Family Fridays at the Museum of The Southwest

Family Fridays are back! This Museum of the Southwest's Summer program will feature extended hours to better accommodate working parents and their families. We're thrilled to be joining together again in person for curated activities, along with multiple Dome Shows and guided Cimarex Science on a Sphere tours in the Blakemore Planetarium throughout the day.


June 4 — Weather + Movements
Outdoor weather obstacle course, and yoga with weather instruments. 
Inside: Indoor Rain Clouds, Paper Windmills, and Weather Instruments.

June 11 — Oceans + Deserts
Outside: Pool Noodle Fishing Game, and Balloon Shark Floating Experiment. 
Inside we'll create "jelly fish" sensory bottles, graham cracker plate tectonics, and a shake table. 

June 18 — Mexican Maps
Outside: Treasure Hunt, and Cardinal Directions Game. 
Inside: Ozobot Map Challenge, Map Puzzles, and Museum Map Making.

*June 25 — No daytime programming.
*July 2 — NO FAMILY FRIDAY - Museum Closed

July 9 — Phenomenal Physics
Outside: Coloring Robots, and Cardboard Car activities. 
Inside: Popsicle Stick Catapults, Floating Balls, and a Paper Plate Marble Run.

July 16 — Art Geometry
Outside: Clay Microorganisms, and “quilts” with painted pieces of fabric. 
Inside: Microscope Exploration, 3D Printed Cell Rubbing, and Petri Dish Germ Painting.

*July 23 — No daytime programming.

Family Friday activities are included with general day-of admission to non-museum members, and are open to the public. Pre-registration is not required. Activities are come-and-go. 10 am to 6pm
