A sell-out crowd of 370 people attended the seventh annual Buckner Shining Hope Luncheon, which featured a conversation with Jenna Bush Hager, a correspondent on NBC’s Today show and daughter of former U.S. President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. The event raised more than $148,000 to date benefiting Buckner Midland and its Permian Basin programs, Buckner Family Pathways and Buckner Foster Care and Adoption.

Former Midland CBS 7 news anchor Tatum Hubbard, now the chief of staff/executive director  of communications  for University of Texas Permian Basin, hosted  the luncheon and moderated the conversation  with  Bush  Hager. The discussion focused on  Bush  Hager’s  thoughts on  family  values, the impact her parents had on her  life, and the importance of nonprofits to strengthen families and serve the community.

The luncheon was sponsored by KC Pipe and included presentations from Buckner International CEO and president Albert Reyes and local foster parents Bonnie and Tyler West.
